An introduction to professional and technical communication in diverse media. Examines the rhetorical dimensions of workplace settings as well as the process of planning, composing and delivering professional and technical communication for various audiences.

The course introduces students to intermediate-level elements of writing for specific communications disciplines. Considerations of audience, purpose and technique in media are examined for a variety of writing assignments in public relations.

Short Story First Drafts

Students will learn the fundamentals of creating setting, character development, plot and dialogue. Lectures will include readings, practical writing exercises, and workshopping. The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn the craft of creative writing at a higher level, and has interest in publishing their short fiction work either in Canada or abroad.
