Rethinking creativity in a new cultural landscape

Welcome to the new home of my work—part portfolio, part field notes from the edge of culture, literature, and creative leadership.

My creative universe spans the fields of literature, publishing, visual arts, creative consulting, and academia. Throughout my doctoral studies in creative writing, I have put more intention behind my creative practice, curation of my ideas and pursued long-form reflection on my own mind as an artist.
Working in emerging cultural sectors
With artificial intelligence now dominating creative spaces, I find myself working at the intersection of arts, technology, literature and policy. My natural creative process has converged with the artificial, and this new nebulous and liminal digital ecosystem has informed my academic work at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.
If anything, this intersection has reinforced my passion for the creative industries, the labour of creative production, and the consumption of the arts.
Creativity as infrastructure
Understanding creativity is similar to understanding networks, pathways and ecosystems. The urge to create, and to make, drives humans and propels us to understand our society, our cultures and the world around us. We make sense of our lives through art, and through this process, we can enlighten and extract ourselves from unsettling places. Disruption, boredom and unease always serve something, and someone. Who wants to keep us bored? Who benefits when we stop creating? These are questions that may impact us for a long time as the artificial creative world collides with the human-made one. Will we shore-up our own creative infrastructure or let it crumble?
What's next
I've transitioned my website from some static portfolio into a dynamic outpost. Here, you will find my:
- Notes from exhibitions, events, and teaching
- Commentary on international creative economies
- Reflections on building a creative life beyond conventional paths
In this new space, I will unearth what it means to hold onto the jagged edge of truth and creativity. I hope you will subscribe and revisit often.
